What do your assets and liabilities look like when you take inventory of your life? According to Dr. Maxwell Maltz, best-selling author, each night before bed you should scour your day to determine what you forgot to do. Dr. Maltz isn't talking about what tasks and projects you need to remind yourself to tackle the following day. He's speaking about the interactions you had with others, he's addressing the attitude you displayed throughout the day, he's talking about how you saw yourself and your ability to get things done. Take stock of your day each night so you don't forget to do the things that are important to you and others, tomorrow. Watch the video below for a list of things you might want to consider during your nightly inventory. Also, please leave me a comment about some of the things you consider when assessing how you spent your day.

“The great traditions always call people on a journey of faith to keep changing. There’s no other way this human personality can open up to all that God is asking of us.” - Fr. Richard Rohr
How do you continue to adapt to what God wants for you? Do you have your priorities in life, straight? If you were tasked with listing your priorities, in order of importance, what would be at the top of your list? Would it be work or making money? Would it be partying and having fun? Would it be family and friends? On some of the podcasts where I have been a guest, I talk about the three "F's" that have sustained me during my decade-long cancer journey. The three "F's" are: faith, family, and friends. If I was asked to list my priorities, the three "F's" would be at the top of the list. Watch the video below and hear the story about one of the most influential people in the United States government and how he prioritized time with a friend in need, over breakfast with the President of the United States. Also, leave me a comment below about what your priorities in life are. “Whatever may happen, every kind of fortune is to be overcome by bearing it.” - Virgil

“Don’t be distracted by criticism. Remember – the only taste of success some people get is to take a bite out of you.” - Zig Ziglar
How does criticism fuel your desires? Are you good at everything you do? If you had to list your personal weaknesses, what would be on that list? Would it be things that were physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual? Whether we like to admit it or not, we all experience struggles in our life that hold us back, or in some cases, hold us down. Many of us do a good job of hiding or compartmentalizing those difficulties, while others wear them on their sleeve like a badge of honor. I have obvious physical defects that manifest themselves physically, such as my amputated leg and the scars on my hands and forearms from the thousands of needle sticks I have received during my 11-year cancer journey. Other imperfections are buried inside my body or under clothing, such as the tumors in my lungs and my numerous surgical scars. While many people might look at those scars and cringe at their ugliness, I am proud of those wounds. I have earned every one of them and they represent a struggle I had to find a way through. In almost every case, I came out on the other side of that battle stronger and more resilient. Watch this video about using your weaknesses in a way that allows you to never be defeated. Also, please leave me a comment below about how you use the struggles and difficulties in your life to make you stronger and more resilient. |
