As Alexander the Great lay dying, he summoned his counselors and asked them to carry out his final three wishes.
His first wish was that only his physicians carry his coffin to the grave. His second wish was that when his coffin was on the way to his burial plot, that the path leading to the cemetery be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones. His final wish was that both of his hands be left hanging out of his coffin.
When one of his advisors asked why Alexander had made such strange wishes, he responded, “I would like the world to know what I have learned. I want my physicians to carry my coffin to show people that no doctor can really cure anybody. They are powerless to save a person from the clenches of death. People should not take life for granted and should be responsible for their own health.”
In regard to his second wish, he said, “I want people to understand that not an ounce of my gold will be coming with me to the next life. I spent my entire existence centered on greed and power but can take none of my wealth with me. Let people realize it is sheer folly to chase fortune.”
In terms of his hands hanging out of his coffin, he replied, “I want people to see my hands and understand I came into this world empty handed and I now leave it the same manner.”

The next time you are down or unhappy with your circumstances in life or business, listen to the story of Zerbin Singleton. Zerbin was born in Alaska to a drug addicted mother. He was in and out of shelters as a little boy. He watched his mother's boyfriends abuse and batter her. When she went to jail, when Zerbin was ten years old, he went to live with his aunt and uncle in Georgia. He developed a relationship with his father at age fifteen, but a few years later his father committed suicide. He wanted to be an astronaut and was accepted at the United State Naval Academy. Unfortunately, he was hit by a drunk driver after graduating from high school and broke his collar bone. He was disqualified from entering the Naval Academy and had to wait a year before being admitted. He eventually made the Naval Academy football team, rose to the level of Brigade Commander (meaning he was responsible for all 4000 midshipmen at the Naval Academy) and graduated as valedictorian of his class with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. When asked how he became so successful, Zerbin commented that anyone can go far in life, regardless of their background or circumstances. F.A.R.  is an acronym that stands  for: Faith - you must believe in a higher power. Attitude - you must retain a positive attitude and believe you will achieve your goals. Reach -  you must constantly reach for your dreams and keep moving forward. Watch these two videos to learn about an extraordinary young man named Zerbin Singleton.
