“Grace begets gratitude, which, in turn, widens our hearts toward greater goodness and love.” - Diana Butler Bass
How does grace open your heart? How do you use change for your benefit? Have you ever had someone push you to move outside your comfort zone? How did you handle that change? Did you use that change to grow, or did you react negatively because you were being forced to do something you didn't want to do? Welcome to another edition of Sustainable Excellence Xtras! These periodic videos will tie into the principles I have outlined in my book, Sustainable Excellence, Ten Principles To Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life. In this video, we hear about former Today Show weatherman, Willard Scott, who early in his broadcast career, had a new station manager turn his career upside down by making him work night. Watch the video and see how Scott handled this change in his job. Please leave me a comment below about an experience when change was forced upon you and how you adapted to that change. According to Ethan Kross, a professor of psychology and the author of the book, “Chatter: The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters, and How To Harness It, 1/3 to ½ of our waking hours are not lived in the present. Those times are spent in "chatter," which is the dark side of our inner voice and can lead to worry and anxiety. Chatter elevates stress and makes us feel out of control. Watch this short video about ways to lessen the negative aspects of chatter in your life. “What looks like falling can largely be experienced as falling upward and onward, into a broader and deeper world, where the soul finds its fullness and lives inside the Big Picture.” - Richard Rohr
How are you falling upward to connect with the fullness of your Big Picture? “We are to be grateful not just in good times, but also in the bad times; to be grateful not just in plenty, but also in need; to maintain thankfulness not just in laughter, but also through tears and sorrow.” - Brian McLaren
