Living in the present is a challenge for a girl like me, as of late, but never used to be. An Army Brat, born and bred, living was a way of life, not a choice, so I chose to live in the place the Army had us at present; self preservation kept my eyes forward, head down, and thoughts of the future....what do i want to be when I grow up? Simple and finite. That was my way of life, until an unexpected event for which I shall try to illiterate. I now have one foot on a road, planted firmly in history. I am stuck in a past time, and place....no thoughts of me had been formed. Odd. When my body was introduced to a friend who wreaked havoc on my mind. He actually found me when he showed up and said he knew my father, He said he was Agent Orange. I never knew him, but he Knew that I fed a banana popsicle to a Monkey in that zoo in Korea....There were no witnesses other than a walrus, who swam by, opened his mouth, and one “fell” in his mouth, too.... So I know he didn’t tell..... Then Agent Orange, yanked me off my feet.....head butted me and fake hugged me.....can osmosis cause the pain that my mind cannot erase? The pain of two worlds colliding? The present....if I can’t walk, you better believe I’m doing the Army Crawl. The past is when I have the most pain. My heart breaks harder every time I see what he did to my father, the Vietnam Veteran.. He lived it. Breathed it. Once, the only presence he was given,.....,Army! Now Parkinson’s. Prostate cancer. The agony he goes through with no complaints, saying he would do it all over again, if given the chance. A hero.....just like you! Your story about your bout with cancer moved me, and this is my attempt to formally introduce myself. Hello, sir! Stacey Lynn Bullard, Army Baby, fighting the only way I know how.... body, mind, and spirit! Warrior Ethos: I will never quit! Thank you for the inspiration! HOOAH!

Stacey, thank you for that introduction. I feel fortunate that my story has had a positive impact on you. I am sorry the Vietnam defoliant, Agent Orange, has wrecked you and your father. It was one of the many negative outcomes of that conflict. You sound like someone filled with grit and determination to never give up or given in to your demons.
