When was the last time you volunteered for a cause or organization you believed in? Maybe you coached your child's sports team, or helped out at a senior center, or agreed to lead an activity or group at your place of worship. While it is kind and generous to give of your time, did you ever think that maybe there could be an enhancement to your skill set on top of it making you feel good about yourself? According to a July 9, 2022 article from Indeed, here are ten skills you can gain from volunteering: 1. Time management skills. 2. Teamwork skills. 3. Improved work ethic. 4. Leadership skills. 5. Compassion. 6. Communication skills. 7. Commitment. 8. Problem-solving skills. 9. Training skills. 10. Interpersonal skills. You can use your volunteer skills to help you stand out among other job applicants. You can highlight your volunteering skills in your cover letter when applying for a new job, or on your curriculum vitae (CV), or emphasize them during a job interview. Your new or enhanced skills could possibly lead to a full or part-time job within the organization you are volunteering with.
