What is your management style? Do you have a: 1. Democratic Management Style - This is where you want everyone on your team to have a say in a particular decision. You value collaboration and inclusion. 2. Hands-Off Management Style - This is where you allow your staff to have the freedom to make their own decisions based on what works best for the team and the organization. 3. Autocratic Management Style - This is the opposite of the Democratic Style. Here you make decisions without asking for input from the team. 4. Charismatic Management Style - This is a personality-based style. You use your relationships with people to accomplish tasks and lead others. 5. Coaching Management Style - This style uses the unique gifts and talents of each member of the team to accomplish the task and cares about developing the members of the team. 6. High-Performance Management Style - This style drives people to aspirational goals by setting an expectation that tasks need to be done correctly and quickly. 7. Bureaucratic Management Style - This style involves managing to the organizational chart based on an individual's specific duties and responsibilities. 8. Transactional Management Style - This style attempts to get employees to meet specific goals based on incentives or disciplinary action when a task is not completed correctly. In the 1980s, the most effective style of management was the Management By Walking Around Style (MBWA). This style of management was a homogenization of many of the styles listed above and proved to be a very effective style. Determining the most effective management strategy should be developed by careful observation and understanding of the organizational goals, objectives, and culture.
