Are the processes that you have instituted leading you toward or away from your goals?
A process is a series of actions or steps taken to achieve a particular outcome. Are your processes leading you toward your objectives? A process could be as simple as what time you get up each morning, setting aside a particular time to meditate, or the last thing you do before you go to bed each night. Here is an excellent story about the process necessary to grow a Chinese bamboo tree: You plant it in the ground, but you must water and fertilize it every day. If you miss one day, because you're sick, or on vacation, or something more important comes up, it dies. Nothing grows on the surface for five years. So you're watering and working toward something you cannot see the fruits of your labor. You're putting in the work, but you're not seeing the results. What would most people do? They would quit. What's fantastic is that after five years of watering the bamboo, it takes nine weeks to grow ninety feet! Here is an important question: Did it take nine weeks to grow the tree, or did it take five years and nine weeks? The answer is that it took five years and nine weeks. Everyone sees the nine weeks. Nobody sees the work being done below the surface. Working while everyone else wasted time, believing through failure after failure - nobody cared about those times. Even when people quit on you, call you a failure, and no longer believe in you, you can still water your dream. Your processes will move you toward your goals. Please leave me a comment about your thoughts on having good processes in your life and how you optimize them. Your opinions are valuable, and I appreciate hearing them.
