What do you see with your mind's eye?
The mind's eye is the visual imagery, the cognitive photo you "see" when you think or imagine something. It's been said that seeing or imagining something in your mind's eye it can come to reality. Conversely, if you cannot envision it, it will never happen. Your mind's eye allows you to deeply wrap your mind around something subjective or intuitive. Before Henry Ford implemented the assembly line in 1913, he had to imagine it in his mind's eye. Nothing like this unique way of mass-producing automobiles had ever been done before. However, somehow, Ford was able to take the concept in his head and transfer it to something tangible that allowed many Americans to afford a car. A 2021 article in the New York Times written by Carl Zimmer suggested the mind's eye is an emotional amplifier, strengthening both positive and negative feelings in our minds. The creativity engaged by the visualization of the mind's eye allows us to conceive something out of nothing. Interestingly, all the space crafts mankind has developed are cylindrical in design. Still, all the alien spaceships that were developed for film and print were saucer-shaped. While the vast majority of us have been gifted with the ability to picture things with our mind's eye, many have no capability to visualize. The medical condition of being unable to envision with our minds is called aphantasia. Some people "lose" their mind's eye after trauma or a medical procedure. At the same time, others say they were born without the ability to visualize. People with aphantasia describe the phenomenon as "feeling the shape of a pear in the dark" or "seeing things in radio." In addition, these people don't remember the details of their lives as well as others. The intensity of the mind's eye may help exercise a restrained influence over people's lives. However, studies reveal that people with aphantasia may excel in fields like math and science because they aren't distracted by the images in their mind's eye. Regardless of whether you can or can't "see" with your mind's eye, you can still live a happy, healthy, and productive life that positively contributes to mankind. Please leave me your thoughts on how your ability to visualize, or not with your mind's eye, impacts your daily life. Your opinions and insight are valuable, and I enjoy reading your comments.
