Over four decades ago, there were plenty of moments in college at The Citadel - The Military College of South Carolina when I asked myself that question.
The heat and humidity in Charleston were relentless. The yelling was constant. Every day demanded more physical and mental strength than I thought I had. I was homesick, pushed beyond my limits, and faced challenges I never expected. At the time, it was hard to see the purpose behind the struggle. I wanted to quit. Looking back, I realized every difficult day was shaping something more valuable than comfort. Those experiences built character, discipline, and resilience in me. The lessons I learned didn't just help me survive The Citadel; they helped prepare me for life. We don't grow when life is easy. We grow when we're challenged to keep moving forward even when we'd rather quit. That same idea of battling adversity is woven throughout my book, Four Truths and a Lie. Sometimes the greatest rewards come after the hardest moments, and what feels impossible today may become the very experience that prepares you for success tomorrow. If you're asking yourself, Is it worth it?—whether it's a difficult job, a hard time, or chasing a dream, remember that the answer often isn't found in the moment. It's found in who you become because you wouldn't quit. If this resonates with you, get your copy of Four Truths and a Lie here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0FPMG37DF
